Family and divorce

Proceedings in family court can be very stressful and drag out for months.  Let the mediation process help deal with some of the issues involving child custody, divorce settlements, and more.

Family

In Nevada, mediation is mandatory for child custody disputes.  Each judicial district has a program to handle this mandatory process.

In the Eighth Judicial District, including Las Vegas, the Family Mediation Center (FMC) handles the bulk of these mediations.  However, FMC does not assist with financial decisions involving custody.

FMC offers confidential mediation services for a sliding-scale fee.  The purpose of the mediation is to assist parents in cooperating and developing a parenting plan in the best interest of the children.  It is believed that when parents come together the end result is more constructive and workable than a bitter court battle and a judicial decision.  And FMC agreements can be approved as a court order.
